The Global Taiwan Institute (GTI) – Senior Programs Manager
The Global Taiwan Institute (GTI) is seeking applicants for the position of Senior Programs Manager to assist with GTI’s public policy research and public engagement efforts.
Primary responsibilities will include:
Supervising the workplace activities of more junior GTI staff, under the overall cognizance of the GTI director.
Conducting editing, research, and writing for GTI’s online publication, the Global Taiwan Brief, as well as for longer policy research reports as coordinated with GTI management.
Overseeing the organization of GTI’s seminars, annual conference, and other public events.
Engaging with scholars, government officials, and non-governmental organizations in the public policy field.
Engaging media organizations and offering expert commentary, as requested on an ad hoc basis.
Desired Qualifications:
5–10 years of work experience in the government, academic, think tank, or business sectors.
MA or equivalent advanced degree.
Familiarity with US/Taiwan/China-related policy issues.
Strong public policy writing and editing ability, and comfort with public speaking engagements.
Study and/or work experience in Taiwan and/or East Asia, and proficient Mandarin language skills, are highly beneficial.
This position will be hybrid (in-person / remote) at the GTI office, located in downtown Washington, DC.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall cognizance of the GTI staff director, supervise the daily office activities of GTI staff, including managing the intern program.
Serve as the managing editor for GTI’s online publication, the Global Taiwan Brief, which publishes short articles on current issues affecting Taiwan and US-Taiwan relations; conduct research and write short articles for the same.
Conduct research and writing for longer policy research reports, as coordinated with other members of the GTI staff.
Participate in organizing GTI seminars, the GTI annual conference, and other public events; engage in occasional public speaking at the same.
Engage with scholars, government officials, and non-governmental organizations in the public policy field.
Occasionally offer commentary to media organizations on Taiwan-related news events and policy issues.
Salary and Benefits
Negotiable base salary of $65,000–$90,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Eligibility for a discretionary annual performance bonus.

Matching 403(b) program.
US citizenship is not required, but foreign national applicants must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
