Senior Technical Writer

MacroSys is looking for a Senior Technical Writer with demonstrated experience as a storyteller, writing persuasively to convey technical ideas and connect with diverse audiences. A successful candidate will have a portfolio illustrating their skills in storytelling, writing, and crafting strategic messages across myriad documentation. Experience in transportation- or technology-related fields is a major plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Find the story for each assignment and ensure a consistent, clear, and coherent narrative
  • Provide content strategy and direction, including understanding audiences, setting goals, crafting messages, producing calendars, measuring and analyzing performance metrics, and so forth
  • Write original drafts of new communication products, including speeches, articles, news releases, and so forth, sometimes with swift turnaround
  • Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for reader comprehension depending on the documentation and/or platform
  • Generate innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions
  • Work with subject matter experts and executive leadership to ensure specialized topics are appropriately addressed
  • Analyze information required for the development or update of policies, procedures, and other documentation
  • Produce content that is consistently free of grammatical errors, typos, and editorial inconsistencies and follows prescribed style manuals and brand guides
  • Review and edit content developed by other members of the team
  • Collaborate with teammates, clients, and stakeholders, maintaining professional, consistent, and open communication channels

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field and 10 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience (i.e., a portfolio) writing technical content (reports, summaries, white papers, etc.) and working with subject matter experts to hone narratives and text
  • Demonstrated experience writing speeches for executive leadership
  • Strong and persuasive written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to check all technical material for consistency and accuracy
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Fluency in technical and common office software (Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat)
  • Ability to manage time, prioritizing and executing tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and build on current skills
  • Ability to multitask and be a self-starter
  • Knowledge of Drupal is a plus

Candidate MUST have a portfolio of articles, speeches, and/or other technical writing samples that demonstrate professional writing experience.

Candidate MUST be either a U.S. citizen or lawfully permitted to work in the United States.
