**Job Description and Competencies**

**Reports To:** Executive Director
**Salary Range:** $27 – $32

## **Position Overview**

The Marketing and Digital Communications Manager is a full-time position averaging 40 hours per week, with a schedule primarily aligned with Arts Council public hours and occasional evenings and weekends required to support events and programs.

This position leads the development and execution of integrated marketing strategies that promote Arts Council services, amplify member visibility, and strengthen community engagement. The role oversees digital and traditional marketing channels, manages three organizational websites, and ensures consistent messaging across platforms. This position also assists the Kalamazoo Cultural Center in its marketing and communication endeavors as able.

As a hands-on manager-level position, this role directs contracted designers and vendors while executing campaign strategy, maintaining brand integrity, and supporting sponsor and partner visibility. The position serves as a key connector between Arts Council services and public engagement, ensuring that communications advance organizational goals and increase participation.

## **Major Tasks Performed (Essential Job Functions)**

### **Marketing Strategy and Campaign Management**
– Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns across social media, email, print, digital advertising, and outdoor platforms
– Collaborate with Executive Director and staff to align messaging with organizational priorities and strategic plan goals
– Manage campaign timelines, deliverables, and performance tracking
– Ensure consistent brand voice and visual identity across all communications

### **Digital Platforms and Website Management**
– Oversee content, functionality, and performance of three organizational websites
– Manage updates, event listings, and member promotion systems
– Implement and monitor SEO strategies to increase visibility and engagement
– Coordinate with web vendors and contractors for maintenance and improvements

### **Digital Advertising and Analytics**
– Plan and execute digital advertising campaigns across relevant platforms
– Track and analyze performance metrics to inform strategy and optimize outcomes
– Maintain dashboards and reporting tools to communicate results to leadership

### **Email Marketing and CRM Integration**
– Develop and manage email marketing campaigns, including segmentation and targeting
– Coordinate messaging across CRM systems to ensure alignment with membership and donor communications
– Support data integrity and audience growth through effective list management

### **Vendor and Creative Direction**
– Direct and manage contracted designers, photographers, and marketing vendors
– Provide clear creative briefs and ensure timely delivery of assets
– Maintain quality control and alignment with organizational standards

### **Media Relations and Public Visibility**
– Support media outreach, press releases, and public relations efforts for both Arts Council and Kalamazoo Cultural Center
– Coordinate sponsor recognition and visibility across platforms and materials
– Identify opportunities to elevate Arts Council programs, artists, and partners

### **Member and Program Promotion**
– Develop systems to amplify member artists and organizations
– Collaborate with program staff to ensure strong promotion of events, workshops, and initiatives
– Support equitable and inclusive representation across communications

### **Community Engagement and Representation**
– Attend events and represent the Arts Council as needed
– Support cross-promotional partnerships and community collaborations
– Contribute to the visibility of the Arts Council and Kalamazoo Cultural Center in the broader community

## **Education / Experience / Knowledge**

### **Education Required**
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field required. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in place of formal education.

### **Experience Required**
3 to 5 years of professional experience in marketing and digital communications, including experience with:
– Managing CRM systems and integrating marketing efforts across platforms
– Managing website content systems and digital platforms
– Digital advertising tools and analytics platforms
– Working with designers and creative vendors

**Desired:** Experience in nonprofit or arts and culture organizations

### **Knowledge Required**
– Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
– Demonstrated ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines
– Project management competency with strong organizational skills
– Ability to interpret data and adjust strategies accordingly
– Collaborative approach with the ability to work across departments and with external partners
– Commitment to equity, access, and inclusive representation in communications
– Familiarity with Tessitura, Neon One, or similar CRM systems
