At BAC, our aim is to change the debate. The Opposition Researcher will conduct in-depth research on a variety of topics for diverse projects. They must be adept at managing multiple projects and possess the ability to approach tasks from various angles, with a relentless determination to uncover all available information.

Role Snapshot

  • Manage ongoing research projects, focusing on advocacy/opposition research.
  • Draft op-eds, blogs, and video scripts.
  • Assist staff with copy editing and brainstorming.

Competences Needed

  • Ability to conduct advocacy/opposition research projects from start to finish, including mapping research roadmaps, summarizing findings, and turning research into actionable products.
  • Organizational and project management skills; ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interpersonal skills: comfortable communicating with stakeholders and brainstorming creative ideas.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in proofreading, editing, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated proactive problem-solving skills and strong decision-making ability; resourceful team player capable of working independently.

Ways to Stand Out

  • Background in public relations or politics.
  • Experience with proprietary research databases like LexisNexis.
  • Experience submitting records requests and analyzing acquired information.
  • Knowledge of navigating FEC and state databases for contributions.
  • Firm understanding of the current political landscape.
